Shenandoah Valley Produce Auction

Support a new market for Shenandoah Valley produce by wholesaling fresh vegetables, fruit, bedded plants, nursery crops, baked goods, and other farm fresh products.  Produce auctions are particularly relevant to farmland preservation, resource conservation, rural economic development and diversification of the rural economy.  Thus far the Shenandoah RC&D has:

  • Committed $6,500 to the Produce Auction for continuing education for farmers who grow for the auction, such as bringing in resource speakers, field trips, educational exchanges with other auctions and producers; Vegetable and Ornamental Production Workshops, etc.
  • Two workshops for growers were held in February in Rockingham County.

Goal:  Encouraging diverse and healthy rural economies

Committee Assigned to:  Rural Economic Vitality
