Your voice can make a difference –

Support Sustainable Agriculture

Do you care about equitable access to healthy food? Protecting farmland, soil, clean water, and wildlife habitat? Ensuring the economic viability of farmers and rural communities? Treating farm workers fairly?  Providing opportunities for new farmers and ranchers?

An excellent way to stay informed about these issues and ensure that you know when action is urgently needed to support them is to join the sustainable agriculture movement’s electronic mailing list, managed by the National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture.  This list makes it easy for you to speak out when your voice is needed most and turn your personal concerns into simple, effective advocacy for national change.

The National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture is a non-profit organization that unites a diverse nationwide network of hundreds of groups and individuals to shape national policies that foster a sustainable food and agricultural system -- one that is economically viable, environmentally sound, socially just, and humane.  It works with extraordinary advocates in Washington who follow legislative details so that sustainable agriculture supporters nationwide don't have to.  It provides grassroots groups and individuals with timely, crucial information on how they can change history by a simple phone call or letter.

This movement has created a record of successes. For example, every year, they coordinate a grassroots campaign to get maximum funding for federal programs crucial to the sustainable agriculture movement. They help protect the meaning of the term organic. They fought in the 2002 Farm Bill for programs that encourage and reward farmers for sustainable practices.

With a new Farm Bill coming in 2007 your voice is needed now!   So go online to http://www.sustainableagriculture.net/signUpAA.php to join the movement’s e-mail list and learn more.
